Head bolts SET 2101-21213
Includes: 10 pcs.
The new bolts (often called "Euro bolts" or "new-style bolts") are installed on the Lada Niva 1.7 (model 21214) and differ significantly from the old ones in their design and tightening method.
Main differences:
Bolt head: Instead of the classic hex head, the new bolts have an External Torx (E-profile) head.
Length: They are usually slightly longer (about 120-123 mm) compared to the old model (115 mm).
Type of deformation: They are "stretch" bolts (Stretch bolts / TTY - Torque-to-Yield). They stretch plastically when tightened, which provides more uniform pressure on the gasket during temperature expansion.
Usage: Due to the plastic deformation, these bolts are disposable and should not be reused after dismantling.
Tightening scheme for new bolts:
Unlike the old model, the new ones are tightened using a method measuring degrees, not just Newton meters:
First stage: Tightening with a small torque (usually about 20–30 Nm).
Second stage: Tightening to a medium torque (about 50 Nm).
Third stage: Tightening at an angle of 90 degrees.
Fourth stage: Final tightening at another 90 degrees.
Important: The new bolts must be used in combination with a metal gasket (type "package"), which is much thinner and more durable, but requires extremely clean and perfectly straight surfaces.
